There are various places to get CME credit. Very few are completely free, but some have no additional cost if you are a subscriber to the resource. Here are some places you may explore for CME credit:
• AOA approved CMEs: College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific CME page
• CMEList: a portal for CME opportunities; includes a free section
• Medscape Education: requires free account
• Johns Hopkins School of Medicine CME Portal: requires registering for an account; may be free, but can’t tell
• New England Journal of Medicine: first 20 CME activities are free to individual (not institutional) subscribers to NEJM and $15 per activity/$55 for 10 activity bundle thereafter. Nonsubscribers can purchase CMEs for $19 per activity or $109 for a 10-activity bundle.
• Journal of the American Medical Association: CME activities are available for free for individual physician subscribers to any JAMA Network journal and institutional subscribers to JAMA journals get 10 free CME per year. AMA members also receive free access to JAMA CME activities.
• The British Medical Journal: can be free if you have access through an institution, or 12 GBP (currently about $15.48) monthly
• Apps/subscriptions you may have through work or individually that provide CME: UpToDate, DynaMed, epocrates, Natural Medicines, and VisualDx
